Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Band 6 Nurse to join the Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU) at Royal Surrey County Hospital.

The CIU is a specialist outpatient unit delivering high-quality care for patients undergoing dynamic endocrine function tests and other specialist investigations and delivering lipid clinic services. This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys autonomous practice, patient education, and working closely within a multidisciplinary team.

About You

We are looking for a registered nurse (NMC) with:o Recent post-registration experience in an acute settingo Strong clinical skills and confidence working autonomouslyo Excellent communication and organisational skillso A commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, high-quality careo Leadership skills with the ability to support and guide others

Experience in endocrine nursing, outpatient services, or dynamic function testing is desirable, but training and support will be provided.

You will be proactive and above all, an excellent communicator. Understanding the importance of patient care you must have the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients, recognising the specific needs of patients and relatives.

You will be involved in inspiring and supporting a diverse, well-established group through effective coaching and engaging team meetings.


Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:o Undertaking and coordinating dynamic function tests (DFTs)o Performing clinical observations, phlebotomy, cannulation and IV drug administrationo Providing clear patient information to support informed consento Supporting outpatient lipid clinics and managing follow-up appointmentso Acting as a role model and supporting junior staffo Contributing to audit, service improvement and clinical governanceo Supporting the clinical lead with agreed managerial and organisational duties
