Programme Facilitator – Probation Service

About the role
The Programme Facilitator delivers a range of rehabilitation interventions, including accredited programmes and structured interventions, aimed at changing the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviour of people on probation. It involves working across a wide range of offence types and risk levels (including sexual and domestic abuse offences), travelling regionally to support offenders, and reporting to the Programme Manager. There is no line management responsibility.
Key responsibilities
* Design and deliver evidence‑based rehabilitation programmes to reduce re‑offending.
* Implement structured interventions for all risk and offence categories.
* Provide support and guidance to offenders to build constructive, meaningful lives in the community.
* Travel across the regional area to deliver interventions.
* Work unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications and eligibility
Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. As of 22 July 2025, HMPPS cannot sponsor a Skilled Worker visa unless the applicant held such a visa before that date. If you have previously held a Skilled Worker visa, discuss this during pre‑employment checks. Those without a past Skilled Worker visa must ensure compliance with current immigration rules.
Compensation and benefits
* Starting salary: £28,064.
* Unsocial hour payments: 50% premium for Saturday work and 30% for evening shifts.
* Annual pay progression via the Competency Based Framework (CBF) aligned with Civil Service pay guidance.
* Annual pay band adjustments in line with Civil Service Pay guidance.
Working hours
This role requires regular work during unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends. The position is regionally based with travel as needed.
