As a Pharmacy Technician at HMP Chelmsford, you will be part of our Pharmacy Service team, supporting the prison healthcare team and ensuring the delivery of pharmaceutical services in a secure and structured environment.

Responsibilities
* Provide medication administration and pharmacy services to patients.
* Deliver high‑quality pharmacy service, managing medicines and addressing inequalities.
* Provide pharmacy‑related information to patients, prison officers and other healthcare professionals.
* Function autonomously within competency scope and support less experienced staff.
* Implement and develop pharmacy support across all residential wings.
* Maintain clear and comprehensive records, written and electronic.
* Recognise and support patients with drug/alcohol withdrawal, substance misuse, distress and self‑harm or suicide risk.
* Communicate effectively with team members, prison staff and external agencies.
* Complete mandatory and additional training.
* Understand and use prison security systems.
* Comply with health and safety and competency frameworks.
Working Pattern
40 hours per week, spread over four days (7:00 AM – 6:00 PM), rolling schedule over an eight‑week period. Weekend coverage required; part‑time option available.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent.
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with current GPhC membership.
* Must pass prison vetting check.

* Ability to build and develop relationships.
* Confidence and capability to practice autonomously and work independently.
* Effective teamwork in a fast‑paced environment.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience in a prison environment.
* Experience working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
