Science Teacher – Secondary SEND
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our brand new school, River Valley, based in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver Science education for Secondary-aged SEND students (11–18) within a therapeutic, trauma informed learning environment.
About the Role
As our Science Teacher, every day will be purposeful, varied, and impactful. You will deliver engaging, accessible Science lessons tailored to the needs of our young people, many of whom require bespoke, therapeutic approaches to learning. You will have the autonomy to shape lessons creatively while following a flexible structure designed to meet each student’s learning, emotional and developmental needs.
You will be working within a Trauma Informed Practice model, and our schools are proud holders of the Attachment and Trauma Sensitive School Award. We will support you with ongoing training in therapeutic and proactive approaches to ensure you feel confident and empowered in your practice.
Our young people often experience disrupted education and inconsistent adult relationships. We are therefore seeking committed, passionate educators who want to contribute to lasting, positive change and build meaningful progress with students who need it most.

About River Valley School
Opening in Early 2026, River Valley School will support children and young people aged 6–18 with SEND, offering a fully personalised, therapeutic learning experience. As a Science Teacher, you will play a vital role in establishing high quality STEM provision within our Secondary phase, helping students achieve the best possible outcomes.
Requirements
•NQTS or QTS status (Science specialism desirable)
•Experience or strong interest in working with SEND or alternative education settings
•Good written and IT skills
•Ability to communicate effectively with children, colleagues and external partners
•Strong active listening skills
•Valid UK Driving Licence (essential for this role)
•Right to Work in the UK
