We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a General Manager at our Grade II listed Boutique Hotel in the heart of Suffolk. With its bar, restaurant, and 14 bedrooms, is an award-winning establishment steeped in history. We are seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead and develop our team, ensuring that our guests and visitors have an enjoyable experience through the delivery of high-quality food and beverages, while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Provide leadership and direction to ensure all operational departments deliver exceptional service to all customers.
* Serve food and drink in our restaurant, bar, and terrace, as well as in private function rooms, ensuring the highest levels of hospitality and customer service at all times.
* Work closely with line management to lead and guide the Heads of Department/Supervisors in organising and managing their teams to perform to the highest standards.
* Monitor and ensure the smooth running of all aspects of food and beverage service daily, creating exceptional guest dining, bar, and function experiences.
* Lead, develop, and empower employees to deliver operational best practice, identifying opportunities for improving efficiency and quality of service.
* Coordinate guest services, including meeting/greeting guests, showing them the facilities, and ensuring their satisfaction with arrangements.
* Troubleshoot emergencies, handle complaints and feedback, and promote a professional image to all customers.
* Review and monitor weekly departmental rotas to maximise employee productivity and ensure staffing levels align with business demands and financial targets.
* Manage finances within budgeted parameters, control costs, and maximise profits.
* Participate in revenue and sales activities, promoting the brand and upselling products.
* Maintain effective communication with all management, staff, and suppliers, and facilitate training and development for the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a General Manager in the hospitality industry, preferably in a hotel setting.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Hands-on experience in food and beverage service.
* Understanding of finance and budget management.
* Flexibility to work shifts including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and bank holidays as per business needs.
