Compass Community School Mountfields Park is a specialist independent day school in Loughborough for children aged 7–17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many pupils also have additional SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. We are looking for compassionate, resilient, and adaptable Teaching Assistants who are passionate about making a difference in children’s lives. At Compass Community, we use a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach where Integrity, Courage, and Care shape everything we do. The Role No two days are the same. Our Teaching Assistants support children with complex needs and challenging behaviours, helping them feel safe, engaged, and successful in school. Key responsibilities include: Supporting teaching and learning in the classroom Working 1:1 and with small groups of students Managing classroom resources and displays Supporting pupils during trips, activities, and social times Using strong communication and behaviour management skills Encouraging social, emotional, and academic development through creative activities and games Celebrating student progress and achievements Participating in therapeutic training and reflective practice sessions We value our Teaching Assistants as key members of the school community and encourage them to contribute ideas to curriculum development and extracurricular activities.
