An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the BCUHB Health Improvement Team, the service aims to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities in Caia Park, Central Wrexham and Flint. The BCU Health Improvement Team are looking for a part time (22.5 hours/week) Band 5 Health Improvement Practitioner to focus on the mental health and emotional wellbeing remit.
A knowledge of these areas, and experience or qualifications in health improvement, health promotion, mental health and wellbeing or public health would help the successful candidate in the role.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate would ideally have a strong interest in health improvement and our Public Health Wales wider strategy for improving health and wellbeing in Wales.
Working as part of the BCU Health Improvement Team, your role will be to provide support to the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of a range of health improvement programmes and initiatives focussing on mental health and emotional wellbeing, across all sectors and in line with agreed local and national priorities.
We are seeking a motivated and self-directed individual who will work as part of a dynamic team, and we will offer regular supervision, training and personal development plans to help you achieve your full potential. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English &/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualification and / or Knowledge
Essential Criteria
* Relevant first degree or evidence of working practice/education to first degree level
* Evidence of continued professional development, with courses relevant to area of work
* Sound knowledge of current issues and legislation on health improvement/promotion and wider determinants of health
* An understanding of primary care
* An understanding of the laws relating to confidentiality, patient consent and data protection
* An understanding of the implications of cultural difference for service delivery
Desirable criteria
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
* Membership of relevant specialist professional interest groups
* Knowledge of Caia Park and/or Flint
* Knowledge of NHS and Local Health Boards
* Participation in new service developments
Experience
Essential criteria
* Demonstrable experience in health promotion and/or community development
* Evidence of experience of multi-disciplinary and multi -agency working
* Experience of developing, delivering and evaluating health promotion resources and programmes

* Experience of evaluating health improvement programmes
