Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen due to changes in service delivery and future plans for reconfiguration. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the biggest secondary care service for the children and young adults (CYP) of the County. You will be part of a large team and will work in a very large acute District General Hospital Paediatric department serving a catchment population of over 0.5 million. This is an exciting time to be part of the team as we are planning our new purpose-built unit at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site. Contribution to an out of hours on call rota is core to this role.
Main Duties
* To provide consultant level care of acutely ill children and lead the acute care team across sites.
* To provide General paediatric outpatient's service.
* To provide subspecialty care in paediatric respiratory medicine as per job plan.
* To provide educational supervision to trainees.
* To support the department with professional activities.
* To develop enhanced clinical skills, in the assessment and management of acutely ill and chronic patients and contribute to on call rotas including safeguarding rota.
* To have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team.
* To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.
* To follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.
Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury which are located 20 minutes' drive apart. Together they provide 99% of our activity. Job Plan
A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post. A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week. The job plan will be reviewed annually and is a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of a consultants professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external and will include personal objectives, detailing links to wider service improvements and trust strategic priorities. For a full-time contract, the job plan will be divided on average per week (pro‑rata for a part‑time post) as: 8 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care – includes clinical activity, clinically related activity and predictable and unpredictable emergency work. 2 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) – includes CPD, audit, teaching and research. The allocation of PAs is reviewed and may be subject to adjustment when a further diary exercise is undertaken or if the service demands a review of the team job plan.
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* MRCPCH.
* APLS.
* NLS.
* BLS.
* Level 3 Safeguarding Training.
Entry Criteria
* Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC).
* Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
* Spin module in Paediatric Respiratory medicine.
Desirable
* Tertiary Paediatric respiratory & CF experience for a minimum of 6 months (ideal 12 months) at middle‑grade level and additional minimum 6 months at DGH level.
