The Head of Learning & Development tailors L&D initiatives to the regulatory, technical, and commercial realities of the fast-changing accountancy landscape. Their key purpose is to design, deliver, and embed a learning culture that ensures all staff — from trainees to partners — have the technical, professional, and leadership skills needed to meet regulatory requirements, drive business growth, and maintain competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design and delivery of a progressive L&D strategy that supports business goals and professional standards.
* Anticipate future skills needs across technical, advisory, digital transformation, AI, automation, and ESG.
* Oversee programmes for professional qualifications and CPD, champion leadership and soft skills development.
* Drive firm-wide initiatives that strengthen culture and capability; build relationships with external providers.
* Embed learning into performance and appraisal processes; measure impact and promote initiatives across the firm.
* Create a learning environment that inspires growth, drives retention, and supports the firm’s ambition to be a better place to work.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* Previous senior leadership L&D experience in a Professional Services or knowledge-worker environment.
* Strong design and delivery capabilities for high-quality programmes.
* Experience in coaching and developing a specialist team.
* Understanding of the accounting sector and regulatory environments (nice to have).
* Strong stakeholder management with partners and senior managers.
* Commercial mindset balancing learning quality with productivity and billable work.
* Experience in designing blended learning solutions (classroom, online, coaching, mentoring).
* High emotional intelligence and ability to influence without direct authority.
