Our PHP developers contribute to improvements, new features and maintenance of our Symfony 4/5 based web applications.
Working as a member of our agile development team, new features are written using Object Oriented (OO) PHP/TypeScript, MySQL, HTML5 and JavaScript in an environment that encourages learning and the advancement of your technical skills as a developer.

Key responsibilities:
1. Build and maintain Wren’s custom built, cutting edge applications (Symfony 4/5 based)
2. Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others
3. Contribute to project estimations
4. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
5. Work with senior developers, business stakeholders and wider development team to understand the initial scope for a new project

About You
Essential
15. At least 2 years’ experience in creating and maintaining object oriented PHP7 or PHP8 based systems
16. An understanding of the MVC approach to development
17. Experience of working with MySQL (We use v8 currently)
18. Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Ajax
19. Experience of using version control systems (such as Git) as part of a team
20. A passion for adhering to coding standards and clean code
21. Excellent communication skills – must be able to describe technical issues to a none technical audience
Desirable
22. A working knowledge of the Symfony (or equivalent) framework
23. A working knowledge of the Doctrine ORM
24. Experience in creating and maintaining RESTFul APIs.
25. Experience of working with:
26. TypeScript
27. React
28. React Native
29. MuleSoft or similar
30. Experience of automated testing (e.g. Playwright, PHPUnit)
31. Knowledge of design patterns, with practical experience of implementing them
32. Experience of agile project methodologies (and its impact on iterative design)
33. Experience of working in a continuous integration environment
34. Familiar with Linux or Mac OS
35. Has previously worked for a retailer / understands retail process
