Location: Bath, Somerset Salary: MPS/UPS TLR2a (£31,650 – £49,084 approx. £3,200) Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: September 2025 An outstanding secondary school in the heart of Bath is seeking a passionate and driven Second in Music to join its highly successful Arts Faculty. Starting in September 2025, this is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Music Teacher looking to step into middle leadership in a school that places the creative arts at the centre of its ethos. The school fosters a love of music at all levels, from KS3 general musicianship through to KS5 composition, theory, and performance. Leadership support for the arts is strong and consistent, and the Music department is a flagship of the school’s cultural life. Music Department The department offers a varied and ambitious curriculum, with excellent uptake at GCSE and A-Level. Students regularly participate in concerts, competitions, and regional festivals. Facilities include purpose-built classrooms, Mac suites for composition, individual practice rooms, and a fully equipped performance hall. You will work alongside the Head of Music to coordinate schemes of work, support instrumental tuition, mentor less experienced colleagues, and help manage the department’s contribution to school events and community engagement. There is also scope to lead on KS4 or KS5 curriculum development depending on experience. Your Role As Second in Music, you will take on delegated leadership responsibilities while maintaining a full timetable of engaging and challenging lessons. You will model outstanding teaching practice and contribute actively to shaping the department’s long-term vision. You will also help plan, promote, and lead music events, ensembles, trips, and partnerships with local arts organisations. Ideal Candidate You will be an experienced and enthusiastic Music Teacher with a strong track record of classroom success and a deep commitment to music education. You’ll have excellent subject knowledge, strong musicianship, and confidence working across a range of genres and key stages.
