About the Role
The role involves carrying out clinical reviews and providing case managers with advice regarding complaints and enquiries related to PIP referrals. Complaints and enquiries can come from customers, representatives (including welfare rights groups & MPs), as well as DWP. The role also provides outcomes and feedback on all complaints about healthcare professionals for professional development and improvement, and for overall business improvements.
As a Nurse Functional Assessor at Maximus, you will use your clinical expertise to assess how a person’s disability or health condition affects their daily life. You’ll work on complex cases involving physical and mental health conditions and chronic pain disorders. The role can be challenging and rewarding, and we offer a tailored training programme: 6 weeks of training before assessing customers, ongoing support, and mentorship.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct telephone, video or face‑to‑face assessments to understand how a person’s disability or health condition affects their daily life.
* Produce Work Capability Assessment (WCA) reports to help the Department for Work and Pensions determine a person’s eligibility for benefits.
* Develop your clinical knowledge and assessment skills with regular feedback and supervision.
Requirements
* Valid NMC registration number.
* At least one year of broad post‑registration adult or mental health experience gained within or outside of the NHS.
* Right to work in the UK – sponsorships not offered.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Comfortable using computer software to type and produce detailed reports.

Salary
* Minimum Salary: £38,000.
* Maximum Salary: £49,000.
