Mechanical Engineer – Defence Engineering\n\nSalary: £60,000 - £70,000 DOE\n\nA long-established engineering firm with a global reputation in defence manufacturing is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join its North West-based Engineering Centre of Excellence. This company is a leader in deployable bridging systems and a key supplier to major UK defence programmes.\n\nThe Role:\n\nYou’ll take a lead role within the engineering team, performing advanced technical analysis, developing structural solutions, supporting junior engineers, and managing outsourced activities.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nEnsure structural integrity of mechanical systems for defence projects\n\nConduct stress and fatigue analysis, including non-linear FEA\n\nWrite test specifications, define acceptance criteria, and compile reports\n\nOversee internal and external design work and conduct design reviews\n\nInterface with customers to define and deliver project requirements\n\nSupport continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives\n\nWhat We’re Looking For:\n\nDegree in Mechanical, Aerospace or similar discipline\n\nChartered (IMechE, IStructE or equivalent)\n\nStrong understanding of structural mechanics and materials\n\nProficient in FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS) and Eurocodes\n\nExperienced in metallic fabrication processes and design validation\n\nCompetent in 3D CAD (e.g., Solid Edge, Spaceclaim)\n\nComfortable with technical documentation and simulation-led design\n\nBenefits Include:\n\nCompetitive salary and enhanced pension (4% employee / 7% employer)\n\nHalf-day Fridays and life assurance\n\nIncreasing sick pay with service\n\nEmployee assistance programme & wellbeing perks\n\nLong service rewards and additional holidays\n\nFree parking, EV charging, and cycle to work scheme\n\nBy applying for this position, you consent to Recruit Engineering processing and storing your personal data, including your CV, contact details, and any other relevant information, for the purpose of providing work-finding services.
