Specialist Cardiac Physiologist

We have the opportunity to recruit a Specialist Band 6 Cardiac Physiologist / Cardiac Healthcare Scientist. They will assist in the provision of an efficient and cost-effective invasive and non-invasive cardiac service in the Royal United Hospital. This will include performing ECGs, Holter monitoring/analysis, Physiologist led exercise testing, Tilt Table Testing, independent working within the Cath Lab and Nuclear Medicine perfusion scans. They will also support the manager in ensuring compliance with and maintenance of professional standards at local and national level.


Main duties of the job

Undertake a Specialised Physiologist's role in both the ambulatory area and invasive service based in the Cardiac Catheter lab, working independently.

Take part in the on-call service.

Support community based services if required.

Perform as lead physiologist in Physiologist led Exercise Tolerance Test (ETTs) Analyse and report the results of the in accordance with national and departmental protocols and procedures.

Provide Physiologist support during complex and brady device implantation and implantable loop implants.

Analyse complex data and recognise when to re-programme appropriate parameters as per manufacturer and departmental policies/protocols for individual patients at device/pacemaker follow up clinics

Analysis and reporting of Remote device downloads, in accordance with the respective departmental protocols.

Prepare, hook up, remove, download and analyse the recordings, providing written reports on 24 hr-7 day Ambulatory ECG recorders, Blood Pressure recorders and Cardiac Event recorders, according to the departmental procedures and protocols.

Perform Electrocardiograms on all categories of patients within the trust. Interpret the results and inform the relevant Physician of any adverse abnormalities, as per the departmental protocol and procedure.

Person Specification

* BSc/PTP/STP in Cardiology
* Able to perform the range of Cardiology investigations including ECG application, manual BP measurement, setting up work areas and investigation rooms, able to physically manage echocardiography, adequate eyesight to see programmers / ECG traces/ echo images.
* Able to use Trust and generic IT systems such as patient data management systems, Microsoft. Able to keep patient records/ department records appropriately.
* At least 12 months experience as B5
