Register Your Interest - Cloud Engineering Specialist (Cheltenham, Cheltenham, United Kingdom) Recruiter: Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (. An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.
The Cloud Engineering Specialist independently implements core infrastructure and security services in Amazon Web Services to deliver highly available and scalable services, automating time intensive processes whilst and meeting security and compliance objectives in all aspects of the secure cloud ecosystem.

Onsite (5 days office based). Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. DV Security Clearance is required. Be hands on in the build and development of world class secure cloud-based solutions as part of an agile delivery team.
Working with support teams to enable management and monitoring of cloud-based systems, and their ongoing support.
Provide some third line support to deployed cloud-based solutions.
Line manage several more junior members of the team, assisting them in their professional development.

Agile Methodologies
Have experience utilising AWS cloud services, both compute and appropriate managed services.
Have expertise in developing for cloud, with experience in iterative full-stack development in appropriate languages (for example node.js or Python).
Have experience in delivering Kubernetes or AWS EKS solutions.
Have experience managing infrastructure-as-code, for example using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
e.g. new cloud account creation, bulk user management, environment housekeeping, monitoring and compliance).
Have familiarity with micro-service and container based deployment strategies, and a zero trust authorization model.
Some experience in the migration of on-prem solution to AWS.

Leads cloud system design activities and/or reviews system designs to assure that solutions will exhibit expected levels of performance, security, scalability, security, maintainability, appropriate reusability and reliability upon deployment
Manages automation initiatives of cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, self-service, infrastructure-as-code services, auto scale initiatives, and DevOps deployment
Communicates with key stakeholders to influence the adoption of cloud-native systems and helps to inform stakeholders on how to use platform capabilities effectively through appropriate venue
Delivers consultative advice through advanced technical knowledge on system architecture and recommend solutions in alignment with systems engineering best practices
Leads the collaboration with quality assurance and technical writers to complete development cycle
Leads the collaboration with business stakeholders and product owners to scope and de-risk development activities in advance
Executes complex data analyses to make decisions on where to invest and iterate on efficiency and cloud management tools
Drives a risk-aware culture, and ensures efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes
Ensures efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security
Identifies, analyses, and resolves complex infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues independently
Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in cloud engineering best practices and industry standards
Mentors other cloud engineers, helping to improve the team's abilities by acting as a technical resource
