As a Graduate Engineer, you’ll support the delivery of geotechnical site works, including logging, test scheduling, and reporting. You’ll liaise with clients, subcontractors, and technical staff to ensure investigations are carried out safely, accurately, and efficiently. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility and the opportunity to grow your skills under the guidance of experienced engineers.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out site duties and accurately record activities and outcomes
* Ensure health, safety, and welfare of the Geotech Team on site
* Collaborate with clients on site and during key reporting stages to confirm scope and methodology, ensuring accurate data is captured to support efficient and buildable design solutions.
* Promote Story Contracting’s full range of services
* Log soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:2015
* Compile detailed logs and factual elements of GIRs
* Manage and collate site data using company software
* Support quality control and ensure accurate live records
* Undertake post-site monitoring visits
* Represent Story Geotech professionally on site
* Promote a safety-first culture aligned with our ‘Do It Right’ ethos

* Hold a degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or Physical Geography.
* Have a full UK Driving License.
* Hold a CSCS card at professionally qualified level.
* Understand GI techniques, BS standards, and lab testing procedures.
* Be computer literate with strong MS Office skills.
* Communicate effectively at all levels.
* Be mobile, flexible, and committed to site-based work.
* Ideally hold PTS certification and be COSS trained (post 1 year on track and 50 shifts).
