Role

We are looking for a Principal Power Systems Consultant to join our AspenTech DGM Professional Services regional office in Montreal. At a high level, you will lead the technical execution of Outage and Distribution Management (ADMS) projects from planning through cutover. You will also act as the primary power systems consulting contact for the customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring high-quality and on-time delivery for the projects they lead.


Your Impact

* Lead full project execution and ensure timely and high-quality delivery aligned with project goals.
* Provide architectural and system design guidance. Confidently apply technical knowledge to solve complex challenges and validate solutions.
* Mentor Senior engineers to build ownership, technical depth, and leadership capabilities. Encourage initiative and knowledge sharing.
* Provide input and oversight across various phases of ADMS project lifecycle including: Workshops (e.g., model requirements, one-line displays, business processes), System builds and readiness reviews, FAT/SAT testing and defect management, Performance tuning and patch quality inspections.
* Coordinate with internal teams to ensure integrated delivery.
* Support external integrations and site testing activities.
* Collaborate with training teams to ensure readiness of system administrators, modelers, and operators.
* Manage enhancement requests and ensure alignment with customer needs and product capabilities.
* Quickly triage issues, identify root causes, and determine appropriate escalation paths. Serve as a bridge between customers and development teams to translate use cases into actionable input.
* Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, manage conflict, and negotiate effectively. Lead workshops and some training sessions to ensure customer readiness and satisfaction.
* Ensure thorough documentation of issues, solutions, and processes to support efficient resolution and cross-functional collaboration.
* Navigate key project processes such as data/business workshops, VAR management, and escalation protocols. Identify and uphold quality standards, holding teams accountable.
* Maintain a broad perspective to proactively identify risks, issues, and evolving requirements early in the project lifecycle.
* Manage competing priorities effectively to support project milestones and customer needs.
* Partner with Product teams to provide feedback and drive solution enhancements based on field experience.
* Lead post-cutover issue resolution and ensure seamless transition to support teams.


What You’ll Need

* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Master’s is a plus.
* Minimum of 10+ years of project implementation or operational experience, preferably in the utility industry or other relevant experience.
* Ability to travel up to 25% (domestic and international).
* Language requirement: French: A1 (basic) and English level C1 (advanced), the position requires interactions with international clients.
* Knowledge of the latest industry standards and trends.
* Experience with electrical utility control systems (SCADA, EMS, GMS, DMS, OMS, DERMS) or experience working in utility operations or engineering support or as a business analyst.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to multi-task on several projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment.
* Business Analysis and Change Management concepts and implementation.
* Strong commitment to providing superior customer service.
