Overview
Consultant Psychiatrist, Orion Ward - Silverwood (Chertsey, Surrey) – permanent, full-time. This vacancy offers a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000 plus relocation allowance up to £8,000 (RRP pro rata for part-time staff).
We are seeking a compassionate and forward-thinking Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical input and leadership, working with a multidisciplinary team in line with New Ways of Working. The post involves triaging referrals, completing initial assessments, and liaising with other professionals to support patient care within Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Deliver consultant psychiatric input to inpatients admitted to Orion Ward in line with the Acute Service Operational Policy.
* Provide clinical leadership and participate in service improvement activities.
* Collaborate with colleagues from other professional disciplines; ensure effective handover of care across teams as part of the patient pathway.
* Contribute to triage of referrals, initial assessments, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
* Support and participate in workforce and service development to promote a positive work–life balance and staff wellbeing.

* Salary: NHS Consultant Grade £109,725 - £145,478 plus £149 Fringe Allowance

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
* Full medical registration with a license to practice
* Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6–12 months of interview) or equivalent
Essential
* Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practise
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months
Desirable
* Higher degree (MD, PhD, MSc) or other clinical qualifications
* MRCPsych or equivalent; management/leadership experience
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of risk management and current guidance for clinical practice
* Understanding of NHS strategic vision and Care Programme Approach (CPA) requirements
* Proficient IT skills; strong bio-psycho-social clinical approach
* Excellent communication, ability to work across professional boundaries, and experience in teaching and CPD
* Experience with audit, service evaluation, and multidisciplinary teamwork
Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning
* Clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary team; time management and prioritisation
* Experience in undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and CPD reflection
* Evidence of research, audit, and quality improvement activities
Requirements
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as per Rehabilitation of Offenders Act
* Current UK professional registration with GMC
