We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Junior Doctor to join the Bedford Hospital Site in the Medicine division. The role involves providing high-quality clinical care, maintaining standards, and driving positive change through service development.
These 12-month posts are ideal for junior doctors seeking to gain experience in various medical specialties before choosing a career path. Your responsibilities will include clinical care, education, and personal development activities to support your career progression.
Rotations include Cardiology, Stroke medicine, Elderly Medicine, Acute Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, and Emergency Medicine. You will be assigned a clinical supervisor, encouraged to maintain a portfolio, and participate in departmental educational opportunities and outpatient clinics.
The posts involve out-of-hours work, aligned with established rotas and compliant with the junior doctor contract and European Working Time Directive. Out-of-hours duties include acute admissions and ward cover.
Your duties include:
1. Admission, clerking, and daily care of patients on the General Medical wards.
2. Participating in ward rounds and on-call rota.
3. Engaging in audits and research projects with consultants.
4. Attending postgraduate lectures, radiology, pathology meetings, and presentations.
5. Teaching Foundation Doctors and Medical Students.
6. Attending practical procedure training.
7. Involvement in Quality Improvement projects.
8. Maintaining good relationships with hospital staff.
9. Responding to emergencies and unforeseen circumstances as directed by consultants.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Seeing and admitting routine and emergency patients promptly.
* Documenting medical records per GMC guidelines, including discharge summaries and clinic letters.
* Supervising Foundation Year 1 doctors.
* Following protocols and seeking advice from senior colleagues when needed.
