Our client is an established and respected Scottish structural steel fabrication company based in Falkirk. Right now, an Assistant Quantity Surveyor is required to support the commercial team in managing the costs, contracts and financial performance of structural steel fabrication and erection projects from tender stage through to final account.
Key Responsibilities: Assist in preparation of tender documents, bills of quantities (BOQs) and cost plans for steel fabrication and erection packages. Monitor project budgets, forecasts, cash-flows and cost control across the project lifecycle (from pre-contract, award, through to final account). Support contract administration: valuations, interim payments, variation / change control, final account settlement. Assist in procurement of subcontractors (steel erection, machining, fabrication works), obtaining quotations, evaluating subcontract bids, negotiating commercial terms. Liaise with internal teams (estimating, fabrication, site erection, design) and external stakeholders (main contractors, clients, subcontractors, consultants) to ensure accurate cost and commercial data.
Skills & Experience Required: Experience (ideally 1 year) in quantity surveying or commercial / cost control within structural steel fabrication, erection or general construction. Good understanding of commercial and contractual processes in construction (pre-contract, contract administration, variations, final account). Familiarity with structural steel fabrication / erection process is beneficial A relevant qualification Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar.
