Audit & Accounts Senior
£50,000 - £55,000 | Richmond | Hybrid | Genuine Work-Life Balance
THE OPPORTUNITY
A Richmond accountancy practice is recruiting an Audit & Accounts Senior following continued growth. This isn't your typical grind - think genuinely diverse clients (education, healthcare, leisure, charities), hybrid working, and a firm where leaving on time is normal, not frowned upon.
Real variety. Actual work-life balance. Partners who listen.
WHY THIS ROLE ACTUALLY STANDS OUT
* Genuine work-life balance - 7-hour workday, no expectation to stay late
* Genuinely varied - 60% audit, 30% accounts, 10% tax (no monotony here)
* Interesting sectors - education, healthcare, leisure, charities, not just more SME compliance
* Hybrid that works - 3 days office, 2 days home (after probation)
* Small firm perks - you're valued, not a cog in the machine
* Approachable partners - hands-on, listen to ideas, no corporate nonsense
* Richmond location - station-close, discounted parking, nice area

60% audit, 30% accounts, 10% tax. Lead your own audits, prepare statutory accounts, mentor juniors, work directly with partners. Variety without chaos.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
* Lead audits for SMEs, charities, and not-for-profits across diverse sectors
* Prepare statutory and management accounts (FRS 102 1A)
* Handle basic corporation tax computations and ad hoc queries
* Mentor junior team members
* Work closely with managers and partners (they're actually approachable)
WHAT YOU NEED
* ACA or ACCA qualified
* External audit and accounts prep experience (FRS 102 1A)
* Small/mid-tier practice background
* Can work independently without hand-holding
* Good communicator who doesn't hate talking to clients
* UK right to work (no sponsorship)
* Caseware/Digita/Xero/Sage experience helpful but they'll train you

What People Actually Like:
* Genuine work-life balance with reasonable hours
* Hybrid working that's genuine, not performative
* Approachable partners who don't hide in their offices
* Diverse client base - education, healthcare, leisure, manufacturing
* Your work gets noticed and valued
* No toxic presenteeism
WHAT'S ON OFFER
* Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 DOE
* Genuine work-life balance with 7-hour workday
* Hybrid: 3 days office, 2 days WFH after probation
* Benefits: Pension, death-in-service, paid ICAEW/ACCA membership, discounted parking
* Richmond location - close to station, nice local amenities
INTERVIEW PROCESS
* Written assessment (60 mins - accounting and communication)
* Interview + office tour with senior management
* Final chat with a Partner
Straightforward, no endless rounds.
YOU'LL FIT IF...
You're ACA/ACCA qualified and want variety without burning out. You're ready to step up - leading audits, mentoring juniors - but in a firm that respects your time and actually values your input.
You want interesting clients across different sectors, not just endless OMB compliance. You prefer smaller practices where you matter, where partners are approachable, and where leaving on time is the norm.
You're looking for genuine work-life balance, hybrid flexibility, and a culture built on trust rather than micromanagement.
