A little more about your role...
* Deliver bespoke numerically-oriented geoscience projects to assist decision-making in subsurface development, focusing on modelling flow, transport, and fluid migration processes. Projects include geological storage of nuclear waste, CO2, hydrogen, deep geothermal energy, mine hydrogeology, waste, and tunnels/excavations for infrastructure.
* Require groundwater flow and solute transport hydrogeological modelling, reservoir simulation, history matching, uncertainty analysis, and coupled-process simulations (e.g., thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical-gas).
* Assist in developing software solutions for data processing, analysis, numerical simulation, post-processing, and visualization, including development of WSP's in-house FracMan software.
* Proactively collaborate within WSP's global practice area networks (PANs) across Energy, Infrastructure, Nuclear waste, and Mining sectors.
* Maintain close links with clients, identify opportunities to offer existing services, innovate new solutions, and deliver software training courses.
* Support business development through proposal writing to grow modelling projects and technical offerings.
* Produce high-quality scientific/technical reports and deliver presentations.
* Communicate project deliverables effectively to clients and advocate for modelling services internally and externally.
* Stay updated on technological advances and industry trends in computational geoscience and numerical modelling.
Your Team
* Join a multidisciplinary team of experts in the UK focused on delivering consulting and software solutions across industries including Energy, Nuclear waste disposal, Infrastructure, and Mining.
* Work with a global client base, including international companies, governments, and academia.
* Report to leaders of the WSP Geoscience group in the UK. Our core UK team has about 20 members specializing in geology, geomechanics, flow simulation, geophysics, and software engineering, collaborating internationally.
* Office locations include London/Reading, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Nottingham, Manchester, and Edinburgh.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...
* Doctorate or Master's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Earth Science, or Physics-related field.
* Strong experience in numerical subsurface flow modelling tools and techniques for hydrogeological or reservoir engineering applications.
* Experience with scripting languages such as Python (preferred), R, or Matlab.
* Resourcefulness, independence, initiative, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent verbal communication skills for technical discussions.
* Proven scientific writing ability, including producing technical reports and papers.
