Salary: Circa £30,000–£35,000 (depending on ability)
Days: Tuesday–Saturday (some flexibility required)
Average Hours: 40 hours per week across the year (summer busier)
Start Date: February 2026 (approx.)
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years in a professional kitchen

About Us
Our client is a family-run business delivering exceptional wedding and event catering across Yorkshire since 2013. They operate a totally fresh food kitchen, sourcing ingredients locally — including produce from their own family farms.
Their menus range from elegant plated dining and sharing feasts to relaxed BBQs, canapés, hog roasts and private dining experiences. Everything they do is driven by a passion for seasonal ingredients, local produce and genuine hospitality.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join a small, friendly team. Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll support the preparation and delivery of high-quality food for weddings and private events throughout the year.
This role is ideal for a skilled, organised chef who enjoys creativity and variety while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
Key Responsibilities
* Work alongside the Head Chef and event chefs to prepare and deliver all menu elements (sweet and savoury)
* Support kitchen operations in both the prep kitchen and on-site field kitchens
* Manage stock control, food storage, hygiene standards and EHO paperwork
* Assist with ordering, rotas, menu and recipe development
* Oversee prep and packing for events, ensuring allergen and food safety documentation is complete
* Maintain consistency and quality across all dishes and service styles
* Lead the kitchen team on event days when required
* Support smooth post-event kitchen close-downs, including cleaning and event logs
About You
You’re an experienced, hands-on chef who takes pride in your work and thrives in a team environment. Calm under pressure and passionate about ingredients, you’re motivated to deliver exceptional food every time.
You’ll need:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a professional kitchen
* Strong all-round cooking skills (sweet and savoury)
* Passion for fresh, seasonal food and local produce
* Creativity and ambition to support menu development
* High hygiene standards and excellent attention to detail
* Confidence leading a small team
* Strong organisational and time-management skills
* Computer literacy for ordering and paperwork
* A positive, practical, can-do attitude
* Full UK driving licence (training provided for vans/trailers)
* Up-to-date Food Safety certification
Kitchen & Event Details
* Kitchen Team: 1 Head Chef, 1 Sous Chef, 1 Seasonal Sous Chef, 2 Freelance Chefs, 2 Kitchen Porters
* Weddings: Average 90 guests
* Peak Season: 1–4 weddings per week
