United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has vacancies for a full-time Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine. Reporting directly to the Clinical Lead for Intensive Care Medicine, you will work as a Consultant within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), which operates 24/7 (365 days per year) at Lincoln County Hospital or Boston Pilgrim Hospital. Your preferred base site will be determined at interview.
The candidate may practice up to 2 programmed activities (PA) of elective activity in another discipline, subject to negotiation.
As a Consultant, your main responsibilities will include providing specialist critical care interventions to patients in Lincolnshire, ensuring workplace health, safety, and welfare through clinical supervision. This role is open to consultants with dual accreditation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to government legislation, national guidance, and Trust policies to ensure ICU governance.
2. Conduct ward rounds twice daily to ensure safe and effective patient care.
3. Prescribe medications and administer them in emergencies.
4. Supervise Doctors, Middle Grades, and Advanced Critical Care Practitioners.
5. Deliver training and mentor Medical Students.
6. Collaborate with the nursing team to ensure ICU safety and efficiency.
7. Respond to clinical support requests from other departments such as Emergency and Anaesthesia.
8. Engage in difficult conversations with patient relatives when necessary.
9. Participate in research and innovation within the organization.
10. Engage in ongoing professional development, including mandatory training.
