Position Overview

Fixed Term or Secondment Opportunity for 12 months due to improvement in service delivery.

Secondment Eligibility

* Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager and complete the secondment request form prior to interview. The secondment request form and the associated secondment policy can be found on the HR/Recruitment intranet pages and must be completed and signed by the substantive line manager. The candidate should then take it with them to interview as confirmation that an agreement has been granted.

Responsibilities

The post holder will play a key role in supporting the coordination, facilitation and oversight of Significant Adverse Event Reviews (SAERs), ensuring that adverse events are reviewed in line with national guidance and local policy. This will include providing practical and professional support to services throughout the SAER process, contributing to the identification of learning, and supporting the dissemination of learning to reduce harm and strengthen clinical governance arrangements across NHS Forth Valley.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.

Qualifications & Experience

We are seeking applications from staff with experience in nursing, healthcare, clinical governance and/or quality improvement.

The post requires a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with clinical and managerial colleagues, and the flexibility to respond to service needs and sensitive situations as they arise.

Contract & Working Hours

As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

Contact

For informal enquiries please contact Ashley Calvert, Head of Clinical Governance, ashley.calvert@nhs.scot.
