Technical Director HV Plant/Primary Design (Substations)

The Opportunity
As part of continued growth, Stantec seeks a Technical Director level HV Primary Plant Engineer to join our Transmission & Distribution team. The role can be based anywhere in the UK and involves delivering projects at varying scales.
Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the HV team for electrical substation design projects.
* Work closely with other disciplines to lead FEED and detailed design for substation refurbishment, extensions, and new‑build projects.
* Coach and develop the wider T&D team and promote industry best practices.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally to deliver technically sound and innovative solutions.
* Engage with the engineering community and drive success for clients.
Qualifications
* Relevant degree in electrical engineering.
* Experience in design and specification production for HV substation plant electrical power systems.
* Ideally a Chartered Engineer (IET) and experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) per National Grid’s TP137 or equivalent, with TP141 HV Substation qualification an advantage.
* Strong knowledge of the transmission and distribution sector and key UK T&D clients.
