We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Advanced Learning Mentorwho is qualified as an HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) or holds an equivalent qualification, with excellent communication and inter-personal skills, as well as having a good standard of numeracy and literacy.
Working as an Advanced Learning Mentor, you will be highly motivated and committed, with excellent communication skills. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering 1:1 and small group interventions, under the professional direction of a qualified teacher. This will include planning, preparing, assessing, recording, and reporting on development, progress, and attainment. You will complement and support the professional work of teachers by developing strategies to support students in the classroom and sharing these with classroom teachers whilst also supporting and line managing Learning Mentors to develop their support practice.
As the Advanced Learning Mentor, you will have a desire to make a difference along with a good sense of humour.

DUTIES
Your duties as an Advanced Learning Mentor will include:
1. Work with teachers in identifying, advising, supporting and reviewing the implementation of teaching and classroom strategies
2. Supporting a named Learning Mentor or small group of Learning Mentors, including supporting their line management and performance management
3. Developing expertise within an area of SEND determined as a need within the department
4. Work with a range of students in a range of subjects, in classroom settings and in small groups
5. Monitoring and recording progress
6. Assessing the needs of students, including those with SEND and unidentified learning needs
7. Provide accurate feedback and reports on student progress and achievements
8. Liaising with parents / carers
9. Carry out interventions and review progress of students against learning programmes
10. Support break / lunch time duties as required, could include supervision for small groups
11. Support extra-curricular policies and afterschool on a rota basis
12. Contributing to annual review meetings
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
13. Qualified as an HLTA or holds an equivalent qualification
14. Previous experience om a Higher Level Teaching Assistant / Senior Learning Mentor / Advanced Learning Mentor or similar role
15. Empathy with students and sympathetic of their needs whilst pushing for the best possible outcomes and maintaining high expectations
16. English and Maths GCSE at Grade C or above / Levels at Grade 4 or above
17. Training in relevant learning strategies for students with additional learning needs, dyslexia, ASD, ADHD, numeracy needs, communication and language need would be beneficial
18. Understanding of statutory framework relating to safeguarding
19. Can use ICT effectively to support learning
20. Well develop inter-personal skills and a sense of humour enabling effective relationships with a variety of people
21. Highly organised and thrives in a collaborative, team environment
22. Competent in working with a small group of students without the direct supervision of a teacher
23. Ability to motivate and encourage children appropriately
