About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be pivotal in ensuring that students with a range of additional needs receive the support they require to access the curriculum and thrive in a positive learning environment. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to deliver tailored support and foster an inclusive approach to learning.
Key Duties:
* Provide direct support to students with SEN on an individual or small group basis
* Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Help students engage with learning activities and encourage independent work
* Support students' emotional, social, and behavioural development
* Maintain clear, accurate records of student progress and challenges
* Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure a holistic approach to student care
Key Requirements:
* Previous experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in an educational setting
* A strong understanding of different SEN conditions, including autism, learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and physical disabilities
* Ability to create and maintain a supportive and nurturing environment for students
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
* Patience, empathy, and flexibility in adapting to the individual needs of students
* A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving
Desirable Qualifications:
* Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
* Knowledge of current educational strategies for supporting SEN students
* Familiarity with assistive technologies and learning tools for SEN
* Training in areas such as Autism Awareness, Safeguarding, or First Aid
