The Role
As a Strategic Town Planner, you will play a key role in promoting land through the Local Plan process, preparing policy representations, supporting strategic site assessments, and contributing to high level planning strategies. You will work closely with clients, landowners, and multidisciplinary teams to influence plan making and secure long-term development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
7. Preparing and submitting representations to Local Plan consultations
8. Undertaking strategic site assessments and feasibility studies
9. Reviewing emerging planning policy and advising clients on strategy
10. Supporting the promotion of strategic land through the plan-making process
11. Preparing evidence-based planning reports, statements, and strategy documents
12. Liaising with clients, local authorities, and external consultants
13. Assisting with stakeholder engagement and public consultations
14. Contributing to client relationship management and business development activities
About You
We are seeking a forward thinking and analytical Strategic Town Planner who thrives on policy focused work and long term planning strategy. You’ll be commercially aware, detail-oriented and confident working on complex planning matters.
Requirements:
15. RTPI accredited degree or relevant postgraduate qualification
16. MRTPI status or currently working towards chartership
17. Relevant experience in planning, ideally with exposure to strategic or policy work
18. Strong understanding of Local Plan processes and wider planning policy
19. Excellent written, analytical, and research capabilities
20. Strong communication and client-facing skills
21. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work efficiently
22. Full UK driving licence beneficial but not essential
