Role overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust to appoint a substantive Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. The post provides clinical services across south east London and will expand activity across Kent, providing outpatient and inpatient care at Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup and Gravesend Community Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Deliver advanced labour ward care and manage delivery suite, including caesarean sections.
* Provide general gynaecology care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
* Cover flexible emergency shift (evenings & weekends) and unpredictable on‑call.
* Participate in hot weeks (3 weeks per 42 week cycle) covering delivery suite and gynaecological emergencies.
Qualifications
* Specialist Register with GMC and within six months of obtaining CCST.
* Demonstrated experience in labour ward practice and proficiency in general gynaecology.

Pay & Working Hours
Pay is calculated over a 42 week cycle:
* 3 PA averaged for the hot weeks.
* 5 PA for flexible emergency cover (evenings and weekends).
* 25 PA for unpredictable on‑call.
* 5.5 PA for other daytime work (antenatal, gynaecology clinic, gynaecology operating, caesarean section list).
Hours are averaged and a rotational hot week will be shared equally with existing consultants.
Location
Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust – services at Darent Valley Hospital and Queen Mary's Hospital for a local population over 500,000.
