Our Maintenance team understands the importance of reducing repair costs and downtime to ensure drivers are back on the road as soon as possible, while ensuring legal and policy compliance for all fleets. Due to an increase in contracts, we are seeking an additional Maintenance Engineer / Controller to support the existing team.
With an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Motor Vehicle Mechanics and a good understanding of the motor trade, your expertise will help us ensure the integrity of repairs, reduce vehicle downtime through timely completion, and control costs. This role requires strong technical knowledge and interaction with our network of branches.
This position is suitable for someone looking to utilize their mechanical and motor trade background in a fleet control environment, possibly a fully qualified technician seeking to move off the tools into an office-based role.
The Maintenance Controller's Role:
1. Proactively managing all service, maintenance, and repair events.
2. Handling contacts from customers and suppliers for updates, defects, and authorizations.
3. Managing costs associated with service, maintenance, and repairs by obtaining updates, escalating issues, challenging costs, and addressing potential delays.
4. Monitoring systems and verifying documentation to ensure unplanned SMR events are captured and managed to conclusion.
5. Identifying issues and potential delays promptly and escalating them to manufacturers, suppliers, or management for support.
6. Chasing up vehicles and authorizing work within set SLA's.
7. Completing associated administration to a high standard, including raising invoices and order numbers.
8. Liaising with clients, manufacturers, dealers, internal workshops, and suppliers to ensure repairs are timely and cost-effective.
9. Communicating effectively with team members, customers, and suppliers, demonstrating computer literacy.
10. Possessing up to level 2 NVQ/City & Guilds in Motor Vehicle Mechanics with workshop experience.
11. Understanding technical work requirements and timeframes for completion.
12. Having strong technical knowledge gained in a workshop environment and the ability to interact at all levels.
13. Knowledge of fleet compliance is advantageous.
14. Exhibiting excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
15. Being proactive with keen attention to detail.
16. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
