Highways Apprentice Technician (8202) | Permanent contract | 37 hours per week | £24,790 to £27,269 per annum (depending upon qualifications/experience) | (Grade D/E) | Norwich
Applications are invited from individuals interested in the Norfolk County Council Highway Apprenticeship Technician programme.
We seek keen, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individuals to join the Highways teams as part of a training programme involving rotation across different teams and environments. Adaptability and a willingness to embrace change are essential.
You should demonstrate good communication skills, be IT literate, eager to learn and develop within a positive civil engineering and local government environment. Flexibility and teamwork skills are crucial as you will be assigned to various placements to enhance your learning. Additionally, you will need to be numerate, literate, and a good problem solver with an eye for detail and sound judgment.
The programme includes further education, with a start date in September 2025.
For the Apprenticeship Technician in Civil Engineering, this involves a Level 3 course at City College Norwich, typically through day release, with support to achieve the professional qualification of an Engineering Technician (Eng. Tech). The course duration is normally three years, plus an additional year for the professional qualification.
Applicants must be able to access the course and have a total of five GCSEs at grades A*-C (9-4), including:
* English
* Science
* Maths (grade A*-B or 6-9)
Proactivity in self-development, including writing training reports and maintaining a Personal Development Plan, is required. An interest in highways and engineering, enthusiasm, and motivation are essential, along with the ability to travel to locations not accessible by public transport.
