Job title: Theatre Practitioner - ODP/ RN - Anaesthetics
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board invites applications for a full-time Band 5 Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) or Registered Nurse (NMC) to join the Anaesthetic Team at Glan Clwyd Hospital. This post requires a UK recognised anaesthetic course/module qualification.
We have 12 theatres supporting specialisms including Orthopaedics, Colorectal, ENT, Urology, Gynaecology and Upper GI. The post holder will develop skills in adult and pediatric perioperative care and may gain experience in maternity care and satellite areas such as MRI, Resus and Ophthalmic Theatres. The role involves working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to meet patient needs, with supervision by the team and opportunities to contribute to improvements through audits and education of staff and students.
Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based patient care across the peri-operative period.
* Provide skilled assistance in the surgical care of the patient and, where qualified, utilise skills in other theatre areas such as Anaesthetics and satellite services (e.g., X-Ray, Obstetrics).
* Assist in the management and organisation of clinical and satellite areas and contribute to improvements in working practices identified by audit/clinical trials.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs and participate in the education and development of other staff and students.
Qualifications
* Essential – NMC/HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioner at Degree level or equivalent.
* Essential – Accredited Level 5 certificate/module in anaesthetic care if applying for anaesthetic role.
* Desirable – Teaching/Mentoring/assessing qualification; evidence of ongoing professional development.
Experience and Abilities
* Essential – Knowledge of the role within a theatre environment.
* Desirable – Experience in a wide variety of clinical specialties within the operating department.
* Aptitude and Abilities – Essential – High quality patient care, effective communication, ability to take delegated responsibilities in a multi-disciplinary setting, motivated.
Values and Other
* Put patients first; respectful of others; act with understanding of others’ difficulties.
* Must be able to participate in out-of-hours shifts (weekends, nights).

Pay: Agenda for Change, Band 5, £32,557 to £39,631 per annum. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full-time. Reference: 050-AHP261-1225-B.
