J P Forrest & Son are sub contract engineers specialising in medium-heavy fabricated and machined components manufactured to customer-specific requirements in small batches or one-offs, such as gearbox housings, main frames and sub-assemblies for industries including Rail, Oil and Gas, Steel making, Renewable Energy, Mining and Quarrying. We are looking for a machine shop supervisor with extensive machine shop knowledge who can effectively supervise a team of ten skilled machinists working on horizontal borers and lathes. You will be expected to: * Produce time/cost estimates for machine shop operations. * Plan, program and supervise machine shop operations to ensure jobs are completed correctly and within budget, using CAD/CAM software and Heidenhain / Fanuc controls. * Plan machine shop workload to ensure jobs are completed on time. * Communicate with operators and customers as necessary to resolve machining issues A machine shop supervisor should also have: * Good people skills, including motivation and effective discipline. * Awareness of Health & Safety legislation, Employment Law and ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems. Working hours are 39 hours per week: Monday to Thursday: 7.30am – 4.30pm Friday: 7.30am – 12.30pm Reasonable flexibility is allowed around these hours
