Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Care Worker working both days and nights, to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to 41 male residents who have been diagnosed with Korsakoff dementia and/or mental health issues in a residential care home setting, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. You will also play a key role in supervising care staff and assisting in the development of care plans tailored to each resident's needs. Your leadership and communication skills will be essential in fostering a supportive environment for both residents and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
You must have a Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
You must have experience in care and have experience and a Senior Care Worker.
GENERAL DUTIES
* To co-ordinate and supervise the day/night care team under the direction of the management team
* In the absence of the Assistant Manager take full responsibility for the staff and residents
* To be Professional, kind, caring and friendly, able to interact with residents, visitors, health professionals and staff.
* To be responsible for reconciling the Petty Cash & Cigarette count
* To cover absences, holidays at short notice
* To be familiar with and promote the philosophy, Christian ethos, aims and objectives of the Joseph Cox Charity, ensuring the unique character and excellent reputation is maintained.
* To support the management team to promote positive outcomes in accordance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
* To share with the management team in developing ideas, initiatives, and practices
* To promote with the Management team a quality monitoring process
* To ensure that Mary and Joseph Policies and Procedures, relevant legislation and Registration requirements are complied with and to raise concerns with the Manager.
* To be involved in the implementation and on-going review of Policies and Procedures and Quality Assurance procedures.
* To recognise Mary and Joseph House is a home for 41 men, with their own problems, a Christian place, where the ethos of the Joseph Cox Charity is maintained, and the unique character of the house is promoted.
To share in the accountability, with the Management team for
· Providing person centred care
· Safe storage and administration of all medication
· Quality and safe working practice
· Safe keeping and distribution of resident's personal money and valuables
· Petty cash
WAKING NIGHT TIME DUTIES
* Lead, supervise and support a small team of night care workers to deliver high quality care to residents during night shifts
* Be the primary point of contact for any emergencies or incidents during the night shift, ensuring appropriate action is taken and documented
* To complete a handover with day staff and ensure that you follow up on any concerns with resident's everyday needs and dietary needs
* Ensure that care is delivered in line with care plans and provide guidance to the care workers on how to handle challenging behaviours or situations
* To provide or assist in wakeful night duty cover in the home
* To administer medication for residents at the allocated time
* To undertake specified domestic or other tasks that can be effectively carried out during the night hours
* To be responsible for residents' safety and wellbeing at night
* To carry out checks on residents throughout the night
* To carry out all duties as agreed on the night register
* To be responsible for carrying out building security checks for the house and garden ensuring no access to the garden between midnight and 5:00am
* To prepare supper for residents attending the dining room and document on the Abylss accurate dietary intake of those residents' specific dietary needs
* To prepare supper for residents that choose to eat in their room, removing all crockery and cutlery following use
* To prompt residents to change into night wear, monitor residents who may sleep in day clothes and encourage them to change into night wear
* Provide all personal care and support needed to individual residents
* To be aware of the procedure for night call outs, ensuring that two members of staff always remain on the premises
