Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant

Want paid, in-school experience that actually develops your classroom craft?

Support pupils through precise, tailored intervention that moves learning on.

*** Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** £81 - £101 per day
*** ‘Good’ primary school, Wolverhampton
*** Provide tailored 1:1 and small group intervention

Role snapshot:
You’ll work across KS1/KS2 with a focus on KS2, delivering short, tightly planned boosters in reading, writing and maths. Pre-teach upcoming content, revisit sticky knowledge with retrieval practice, and run 1:1 catch-up when a pupil needs targeted input. Keep crisp notes on what landed, agree next actions with the class teacher, and adjust sessions quickly based on pupil response.

About you:
Clear communicator, organised, and calm in the bustle of a primary classroom. You break ideas into simple steps, use examples well, and help pupils build independence rather than reliance.

Requirements
• Degree – 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Strong written and verbal skills.
• Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine commitment to inclusion and progress.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.

The School:
This ‘Good’ two-form entry primary serves a diverse community and keeps lessons calm through simple, consistent routines. Reading is a whole-school priority: systematic phonics lower down, guided reading and vocabulary work in KS2. Maths is sequenced in small steps with daily retrieval and shared methods across year groups. Year teams co-plan and share high-quality resources—model texts, worked examples, and intervention packs—so you’re not reinventing the wheel. New staff receive a structured induction, weekly bite-size CPD, and coaching drop-ins with practical, next-day actions, giving you the right conditions to show impact and prepare for teacher training.

How to Apply
Email your CV, including availability and DBS status (add two referees if you can). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief phone screen and an in-school observation. Roles may close early if filled.

Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
