Job Title: Porter
Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.60
Position Type: Permanent, Full Time
Weekly contractual Hour: 37.5
Shift Pattern: Alternating weeks 6am - 14:00 hrs & 14:00 - 22:00 hours
Location: GSK, Harmire Road, Barnard Castle, County Durham, England, DL12 8DT
The primary objective of this role is to ensure the cleaning and servicing of designated areas to the standards required by both the client and Mitie, carrying out duties efficiently and professionally. Key responsibilities include adhering to COSHH guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals and maintaining full knowledge of cleaning equipment and materials, ensuring the correct use and safe handling, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). The role involves monitoring stock levels of cleaning materials and reporting low supplies to the Team Leader to facilitate timely replenishment. Employees must keep cleaning equipment clean, well-maintained, and properly stored, reporting any faults immediately and refraining from using defective equipment. Safety is a priority, with the use of appropriate signage such as wet floor signs and adherence to Health and Safety legislation. Waste management duties require recycling of office waste daily and minimizing unnecessary waste production. Maintaining high personal hygiene and professional appearance in line with company standards is mandatory. The role also requires compliance with GSK and Mitie procedures, timely reporting of incidents, and fostering a positive working atmosphere. Flexibility is important, as employees may need to cover other areas and adjust to changing business needs. Good communication skills, previous cleaning experience, and a commitment to teamwork are essential to successfully fulfill these responsibilities.
