Ashington Joint Welfare Scheme is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Centre Assistant to join our vibrant team at Hirst Welfare Centre. This role is pivotal in creating a welcoming environment, supporting the delivery of events and programmes, and ensuring our facilities meet the highest standards for our community.
About the Role
As a Centre Assistant, you will play a key part in the day-to-day running of the Centre. From helping visitors feel valued and supported to ensuring rooms are set up for various events, your work will directly enhance the experience of everyone who uses our facilities. You will also take on tasks that keep the Centre safe, clean, and operational, as well as support a variety of community programmes.

Key Responsibilities
* Facility Management: Open and close the Centre as required, ensuring the safety, security, and readiness of all facilities.
* Customer Service: Deliver exceptional support to visitors, answering enquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.
* Event Support: Prepare rooms for events and activities by setting up furniture and equipment. Assist organisers and participants to ensure events run smoothly.
* Maintenance and Safety: Conduct regular checks of the premises to identify maintenance needs or health and safety issues, liaising with contractors for repairs.
* Bookings and Payments: Assist with visitor registrations, bookings, and payment processing, maintaining accurate records.
* Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, volunteers, and community groups to deliver high-quality programmes and services.

* Prior experience in a customer service role.

* Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Experience in a community-focused or facilities-based environment.
* First Aid and Fire Marshal training (or willingness to complete).
* Knowledge of booking systems and basic administrative processes.

Work Arrangements
This is a part-time position, requiring flexibility to work regular day, evening and weekend shifts. You may also need to attend training or support off-site activities occasionally. Work will be both indoors and outdoors, regardless of weather conditions, and risk assessments will be in place to ensure your safety.
Additional Information
The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
