About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to lead the strategic direction of sport and to teach PE to boys aged 6–13. The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching football, rugby, and cricket, while inspiring pupils and staff alike. A willingness to contribute fully to the wider life of a busy prep boarding school, along with a sense of humour, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the school's sporting strategy and PE curriculum.
* Oversee timetables, fixtures, match days, and staff allocations.
* Coach football, rugby, and cricket across Years 2–8.
* Develop sports scholars and build links with the wider community.
* Lead departmental meetings, manage budgets, and ensure health and safety.
* Monitor pupil progress, write reports, and attend parent meetings.
General duties include:
* Acting as tutor for a small group of pupils.
* Contributing to boarding duties and evening/weekend activities.
* Supporting whole-school events and daily operations.
Person Specification
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
* Ability to inspire pupils and staff in PE and sport.
* Strong coaching and teaching skills (Years 5–8 especially).
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Competence in IT systems.
* Teamwork, initiative, and leadership ability.
* Willingness to engage fully in boarding school life.
* A well-developed sense of humour and appreciation that prep school life should be fun.
* Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
