Job Description:
Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Test Solutions Engineer on a permanent basis at our modern and purpose-built Luton (Capability Green) site. The Principal Test Solutions Engineer will need to be a talented and experienced Engineer, familiar with working on complex electronic (ideally RF, Digital, and analogue based) Test Solutions. The Principal Test Solutions Engineer will have hands-on experience designing complex Test Solutions for the full life cycle. Requirements capture for Test Solutions or main product would be highly beneficial.
This role is within the Combat Air business group, supporting the enhancement of production test solution capabilities for products such as:
* Praetorian DASS
* At LRI and SRI levels
Security Clearance
Required
What you will do:
* Work with experts in their field to deliver designs that operate beyond 40GHz, forming complex electronic test systems to meet challenging customer requirements.
* Engage in design, technical problem solving, and test solution development.
* Potentially travel across the UK or abroad for technical reviews.
What we’re looking for:
You really must have:
* Understanding of electronic technologies from DC to light or a good understanding of Systems/Software engineering lifecycle.
* Experience working with external suppliers and outsourcing complex work packages.
* Extensive knowledge of NI LabVIEW & TestStand.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Good schedule and budget management.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Commercial awareness.
* Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to work in a team.
* Knowledge of engineering lifecycle and business processes.
It would be advantageous if you also have:
* Understanding of digital/analogue/RF systems with ESM and ECM.
* Experience in the defence electronics sector, especially with airborne sensor systems.
Chartered Engineer status or membership in a professional engineering institution is desirable.
