AECOM’s Chesterfield office has an immediate opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer to deliver technical design and project support across a range of civil infrastructure projects, primarily within commercial and residential developments. This role will contribute to the successful delivery of projects and support the continued growth of the business.
Our Business Unit is highly multidisciplinary, bringing together civil and highway, structural, mechanical, and electrical/process engineers, architects, project managers, and surveyors. We operate across a diverse range of sectors including industrial and logistics developments, airports, infrastructure regeneration, and projects for Government Agencies and Local Authorities.

Job responsibilities:
1. Report to the Principal / Associate Director, supporting the wider team to ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget, and quality standards.
2. Assist in the technical design and project management of civil infrastructure schemes.
3. Develop strong internal working relationships and support the training and development of team members, promoting personal growth and succession planning.
4. Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.
5. Deliver a client-focused service that promotes ongoing client satisfaction and repeat business.

Requirements:
6. Commercial awareness with the ability to support teams of engineers and technicians in delivering projects to time, cost, and quality.
7. Experience in highways, drainage, and associated infrastructure design for multidisciplinary developments.
8. Detailed knowledge of drainage design, including piped systems and SuDS, with experience in storage design and software such as InfoDrainage.
9. Experience preparing contract drawings and specifications and negotiating Sections 38, 278, 104, and 106 Agreements.
10. Knowledge and experience in the design of highways, access roads, and infrastructure, including road geometry, earthworks, pavements, drainage, and underground services.
11. A willingness to coach and support junior staff to aid their professional development.
Preferred qualifications:
12. Significant experience in UK development-led infrastructure engineering, gained in a public, private, or consultancy environment.
13. A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
14. Chartered Civil Engineer status or working towards Chartership (MICE).
