While weekend working is expected, on call and late nights may be required, these are very reasonable and paid at a competitive rate, with a healthy work life balance, supported by senior members of staff.

Based at Ashford Hospital in Surrey, the successful post holder will be part of the multidisciplinary team for the Surrey Elective Centre. You will work closely alongside your Pharmacy colleagues, nursing, medical staff and therapists, to develop a responsive and effective clinical pharmacy service to the new centre.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for:

* the provision of a high-quality clinical pharmacy service within the speciality which meets the needs of patients and healthcare professionals within and associated with the Trust.
* developing and implementing medicine management systems concerned with the nominated speciality.
* providing a specialist clinical pharmacy service to the designated wards.
* undertaking clinical supervision of pharmacy staff and teaching of nursing and medical staff.
* any pharmacy function for the specialities they assume responsibility for, this includes the clinical pharmacy, governance, and financial support regarding the medicine expenditure for these areas.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for people willing to show their commitment to delivering excellence and working with us to make Pharmacy a great place to be for all our staff and meet the challenges of Hospital Pharmacy in the modern day NHS.

A can-do and flexible approach is essential as is a commitment to self and service development. Applicants should also ideally :

* have previous experience of providing clinical pharmacy service above Foundation level
* be in possession of a postgraduate clinical pharmacy diploma (or equivalent)
* be prepared to undertake the Independent Prescribing qualification if not already in possession.

This is an ideal opportunity for you to build on your experience as a clinical pharmacist as we develop pharmacy services for the future.

You must be registered as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Applications are welcome from all sectors of pharmacy practice, including hospital, community, primary care, industry and academia. These are full time posts, with commitment required to evening, weekend, Bank Holiday and on-call duties as per rota requirements.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* M.Pharm degree in Pharmacy (4 years vocational degree) or equivalent
* Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmacy /Clinical Practice, or equivalent experience.
* Membership of the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain


Experience

* Experience within nominated Division/Speciality


Knowledge

* Trust vision, values, and strategic objectives
* Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of clinical pharmacy practice relating to Division.
* Able to process complex clinical information in an accurate and timely manner.


Skills

* Evidence of personal insight and sound judgement.
* Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and on own.
* Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the team, the service, and the Trust
* You can communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service, or support as appropriate to your role
