Year 5 Teacher - Maternity Cover at King’s College School, Cambridge (prep school). The role is a full-time, temporary position (maternity cover) for a minimum of two terms, with Maths specialist teaching to Years 5 and 8 and involvement in Games (netball).
Job Details
* Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (Maternity Cover)
* Curriculum: Key Stage 2 plus specialist Maths teaching to Year 8 pupils
* Salary: Competitive + benefits (based on qualifications and experience; National Teacher Pay Scales)
* Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (including a half-hour unpaid break); attendance at staff meetings, parents’ evenings, and some after-school duties
* Start date: January 2026
Responsibilities
* Inspire learning through excellent pedagogy and creativity
* Plan lessons using provided schemes of work to meet pupils’ needs and entrance requirements of their preferred senior schools
* Deliver differentiated lessons with clear objectives and outcomes
* Collaborate with department colleagues; incorporate ICT into lessons, planning, and presentations
* Maintain an orderly, welcoming learning environment and positive pupil conduct
* Set and mark work, including homework, in line with the School’s policies
* Assess, record, and report pupil progress
* Liaise with the Learning Hub and Form Tutor regarding specific learning needs
* Uphold high standards of personal conduct and appearance
Form Tutor Responsibilities
* Register pupils and monitor attendance
* Support pastoral and academic needs of each tutee; maintain iSAMS profiles
* Be the main contact for pupils and parents in your class
* Prepare written reports in line with the Staff Calendar
* Attend year group and departmental meetings; support extra-curricular activities and chapel choristers
Other Roles and Expectations
* Pastoral care, safeguarding, and child protection compliance including training
* Participate in school duties, meetings, training, and INSET days
* Engage with extra-curricular activities and school life
Qualifications
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Proven ability to teach children of various ages; excellent lesson delivery
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
* Proficiency in ICT and ability to plan creative, bespoke curricula
