Our globally renowned aerospace client is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist and Data Management Specialist to support Fixed and Rotary Wing programmes based in Yeovil. The role is responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining robust configuration and data management processes to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, technical, and company requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
The post holder will work closely with programme, engineering, bid, supplier, and customer stakeholders to maintain configuration control, assure data integrity, and support audits, reviews, and governance activities across multiple defence programmes.
Responsibilities
* Plan, implement, and maintain Configuration and Data Management (CM/DM) processes across assigned programmes.
* Support the deployment and standardisation of configuration management processes and toolsets, including access control and security requirements.
* Interface with bid and programme teams to embed configuration management requirements at contract initiation and throughout programme delivery.
* Provide CM support at design reviews, programme reviews, and configuration control boards, ensuring consistent governance and timely closure of actions.
* Liaise with customers and suppliers to agree and manage joint configuration and data working arrangements.
* Contribute to supplier Statements of Work and support programme forecasting and budget planning for CM/DM activities.
* Identify programme risks, issues, and opportunities, supporting the development and implementation of mitigation plans.
Data Management & Compliance
* Track, manage, and report customer and supplier data deliverables, including Supplier Data Requirements Lists (SDRLs), ensuring timely submission and disposition.
* Monitor data transmissions to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
* Review and approve technical data within iPDM, ensuring correct security, export control, intellectual property, and trade compliance markings.
* Ensure adherence to Export Compliance, Manufacturing Licence Agreements (MLAs), information protection, and intellectual property regulations.
* Maintain and update shared technical information environments and support secure data access across multiple sites, including offline contingency solutions.
* Support internal audits, reviews, and assurance activities to demonstrate regulatory and contractual compliance.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Strong knowledge of configuration management regulations, international standards, and best practice.
* Solid understanding of CM, data management, and programme management principles.
* Awareness of commercial and financial considerations within programme delivery.
* General knowledge of engineering design, testing, and manufacturing processes.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing planning information.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, procurement, and customer support.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
* High attention to detail, strong quality focus, and ability to manage workload independently.
* Good level of IT literacy and experience using configuration and data management systems.
* CMII Practitioner qualification or equivalent experience.
Additional Information
* Eligibility and willingness to obtain SC clearance is required.
* The role will primarily be office-based in Yeovil, with limited home working, due to programme requirements.
* UK Nationals only, in line with defence and security obligations.
