Fire Door Inspector
We are looking for Fire Door Inspectors to join the Building Safety and Compliance Team. Reporting to the Compliance Contract Officer, you will carry out fire door inspections across our housing stock, including Higher‑Risk Buildings and low‑rise properties, ensuring compliance with current fire safety legislation and guidance.
About the role
This is a safety‑critical role focused on protecting residents through the identification and reporting of fire door defects. You will work in occupied homes and must maintain a professional and calm approach when dealing with residents, including those who may be vulnerable or anxious about safety in their home.
Responsibilities
* Undertake fire door inspections to communal and flat entry doors in line with relevant standards (including BS 8214 and associated guidance)
* Identify and record defects relating to fire resistance, installation, and maintenance (e.g. gaps, seals, closers, glazing, frames, certification)
* Accurately capture inspection data and photographic evidence to support compliance records and audit requirements
* Raise and progress remedial works through internal systems
* Liaise with residents to arrange access and explain the purpose of inspections and any required works
* Escalate high‑risk issues and non‑compliance in line with internal procedures
* Support the delivery of fire safety compliance programmes across the organisation
About you
* Hold a recognised fire door inspection qualification (e.g. ProQual Level 3 Award in the Inspection and Testing of Fire Resisting Door Installations or equivalent)
* Have experience inspecting fire doors within residential settings (HRB experience desirable)
* Have a good understanding of fire door standards, installation requirements, and common defects
* Be able to record clear, accurate, and auditable inspection data
* Have strong communication skills and confidence engaging with residents in their homes
* Be organised and able to manage inspection programmes and workloads effectively
* Be able to identify risk and escalare issues appropriately
* Experience in social housing, compliance, or fire safety is desirable
