Child Protection Social Worker - Birmingham Children's Trust About the Role Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking experienced Child Protection Social Workers to join their Children's Services teams. This is a high-impact role focused on safeguarding vulnerable children, assessing risks, and ensuring timely interventions to protect children from harm. You will work within a multi-agency safeguarding framework, collaborating closely with families, schools, health services, and police to protect children and promote their welfare. Key Responsibilities As a Child Protection Social Worker, you will: Undertake child protection investigations and Section 47 enquiries in line with statutory guidance. Conduct comprehensive assessments of risk and need, developing child-focused care plans. Ensure children's voices and wishes are represented in all decision-making. Work closely with multi-agency partners, including schools, health, and police, to safeguard children. Maintain accurate case records and statutory documentation. Attend child protection conferences, strategy meetings, and court hearings as required. Provide guidance and support to families, promoting positive change and safeguarding outcomes. Participate in continuous professional development to maintain high standards of practice. Essential Requirements Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent). Social Work England registration (current and active). Minimum 3 years' post-qualifying experience in Children's Services, particularly child protection. Strong assessment, safeguarding, and case management skills. Experience with statutory child protection processes and court work. Excellent communication, organisation, and report writing skills.
