Overview
The Wigan Adult ADHD Service is recruiting two Clinical Nurse Specialists (NMP) to permanent roles: full-time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time (15 hours per week). The post is based at Claire House in Wigan with clinics in Wigan and Leigh. Travel across the borough will be required to support the service and improve accessibility. The successful applicant will join a friendly, supportive team and receive clinical supervision and development opportunities. There is opportunity for further professional development, including specialist ADHD diagnostic and assessment training and pharmacological treatment of adults with ADHD; specialist knowledge and experience are desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities
* Complete routine reviews of patients with a confirmed ADHD diagnosis and plan clinical care accordingly.
* Assess the efficacy of treatment and perform physical health observations.
* Complete a clinical triage of referrals to determine suitability for assessment.
* Attend the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to support collaborative patient care.
* Liaise with other agencies involved in a service user’s care to ensure effective communication and an integrated package of care.
* Supervise and provide support to the Band 6 nurse and students.
* Act as an advocate to facilitate the views and choices expressed by patients.
* Contribute to the specialist ADHD diagnostic assessment process for adults over 18 years.
* Provide clinical specialist input into the ADHD service.

* Essential
o Up-to-date professional registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register and current NMC registration.
o Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) qualification.
o Significant experience working within mental health.
o Assessor/Mentorship training.
* Desirable
o Post-registration training in relevant field.
o Leadership/Management training.
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working with service users with complex care needs requiring higher levels of expertise; mentorship and supervision experience; experience in a multi-agency framework; contribution to change management; problem-solving approaches.
* Desirable: Experience of ADHD/neurological conditions diagnosis, treatment and management; positive leadership.
Knowledge
* Essential: Experience of mentoring students; ability to participate in service development; knowledge of risk management; safeguarding procedures; up-to-date clinical knowledge including risk assessment, dual diagnosis and complex health and social care needs; knowledge of the Mental Health Act, MCA, and legal aspects of mental health care.
* Desirable: An overview of the Trust’s objectives.
