About the Role
We now have an opportunity for a Radio Frequency Engineer or Senior RF Engineer to support the RF Group with a high level of expertise in the design, development, operation and maintenance of RF high and low power systems.
You will contribute to the overall work of the RF Group with responsibility for certain aspects of the RF systems including:
1. Development of new RF equipment and carry out assembly and test.
2. Management and inventory control of the RF laboratory, RF test equipment operation and calibration.
3. Project management of small R&D projects for new products/systems.
4. To undertake study and development projects for future upgrades including amplifier upgrades, electronics upgrades, waveguides and coaxial transmission lines, high power circulators/loads and supervision equipment.
5. To carry out inspection, acceptance testing, installation and maintenance of high-power RF equipment.
6. Liaison with other groups such as Diagnostics, Accelerator Physics and the Operations team in diagnosis and repair or new systems development and installation.
7. Contribute to ensuring safe working practices are being followed.
8. To take part setting up and preparing for beam operation and beam-off periods, RF and general operation shifts.
Applicants will be considered at either Radio Frequency Engineer or Senior Radio Frequency Engineer level, depending on the strength of your skills, experience and qualifications.
About You
You should hold a degree in relevant discipline (e.g. RF or Electronics Engineering) or demonstrate equivalent experience.
As well as experience in the following areas:
9. Design, production and testing of RF circuits
10. Supervision of procurement contracts.
11. High-power RF measurement and data analysis
12. Hands-on experience in RF transmission lines such as waveguides and high-power coaxial assembly.
Any knowledge / experience within the following areas will also be beneficial:
13. High power solid-state and/or IOT amplifiers.
14. Particle accelerator RF systems.
15. Electrical and electronic fault finding in complex systems.
You will display a willingness to take on a variety of tasks and a desire to learn and face new challenges, and you will demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills to communicate with a range of colleagues.
