My client is recruiting for a Sub Agent to join our UK Civils Division in the South, working on concrete road frameworks. The role reports to the Agent/Project Manager and involves supporting the management of design and/or construction, including implementing quality procedures and managing health, safety, and environmental matters to meet programme, specification, and budget targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver Health, Safety, and Environmental presentations such as project inductions, toolbox talks, and team briefings, and contribute content.
2. Manage, supervise, and mentor graduate, site, and section engineers to ensure high engineering standards and proper project documentation.
3. Conduct health and safety inspections.
4. Maintain a daily diary of activities.
5. Implement quality control processes, including preparing and reviewing Inspection & Test Plans, with knowledge of key packages like concrete, drainage, steelwork, and brickwork.
6. Understand project specifications, especially tolerances for structural elements.
7. Issue permits to break ground.
8. Prepare and review method statements and risk assessments.
9. Identify missing information and manage the RFI process effectively.
10. Understand temporary works and serve as Temporary Works Co-ordinator.
11. Understand lifting operations and act as Project Lifting Operations Appointed Person.
12. Prepare and monitor 4-week construction programmes or assist project planners in updating schedules.
Experience & Skills
1. Experience at section engineer level.
2. Understanding of risk controls for underground services.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
5. Experience in design management.
6. Management experience of temporary works and lifting operations.
7. Knowledge of quality management procedures.
8. Proficiency in CAD.
9. Previous team management experience across various engineering levels.
10. Proven record of initiating positive changes on projects.
Qualifications & Training
1. SMSTS certification.
2. First Aid certification.
3. Temporary Works Co-ordinator training.
4. CPCS Lifting Operations Appointed Persons course.
5. Working towards professional status (e.g., ICE, CIOB).
