Job Title: Fundraising Officer

Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Salary: £19,020 (Full Time Equivalent salary: £31,700)
Contract: Permanent
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Location: Office based in central Aylesbury.


Purpose of the Role

To build on the work already achieved in developing fundraising for Aylesbury Homeless Action Group. You will help grow financial and community support for our charity. This is currently the only dedicated fundraising post in the organisation so, whilst there are some set objectives for the role, we will be looking for someone who can bring initiative, creativity and is capable of working relatively independently.


Main Responsibilities


1. Fundraising events

* Plan and deliver AHAG’s presence at local events including representing AHAG personally.
* Liaise with event organisers.
* Recruit, brief and support volunteers to assist with event logistics and delivery.


2. Supporter communications and social media

* Manage AHAG’s supporter communications through Mailchimp and other channels, including newsletters and other updates.
* Prepare creative and engaging materials such as posters and flyers which help promote the work of the organisation to both supporters and clients.
* Maintain AHAG’s presence on donation platforms, ensuring pages are accurate, up to date and effectively promoted.
* Coordinate the process for thanking donors and supporters, ensuring prompt and personal acknowledgements.
* Produce social media posts, re‑using and scheduling content efficiently to maintain visibility without excessive workload.


3. Appeals and campaigns

* Support the planning and delivery of AHAG’s fundraising appeals, working with the CEO to develop content.
* Ensure these are widely promoted to supporters and potential supporters.


4. Other

* Ensure accurate records are kept of all fundraising related activities.
* Contribute to the collection of key metrics and maintain accurate supporter records.


Person Specification


Experience and Knowledge

* Some experience in fundraising, marketing, events, or charity work would be an advantage but is not essential.
* Transferable skills gained in administration, communications, customer service, education, or similar roles may be equally valued.
* An understanding of how to construct clear, persuasive communication is important.
* We are also seeking someone with a willingness and ability to learn about the charity sector and AHAG’s work with people facing homelessness.


Skills and Abilities

* This role requires excellent written and spoken English, you will need to be able to produce clear, accurate and engaging content for newsletters and social media as well as communicating with partners and supporters directly.
* We also require someone who is highly organised, reliable, diligent and able to manage several tasks and deadlines at once.
* Able to manage delegated objectives and work out practical ways to achieve them, offering suggestions and improvements where appropriate.
* Comfortable using digital tools such as email, social media platforms, and simple databases or spreadsheets (training will be given on any specific platforms).
* Able to work well with others in a small, friendly team and communicate confidently with supporters, volunteers and partners.


Qualifications

* No formal qualifications are required.
* Training or education in communications, marketing, or a related field may be an advantage.
